Cozy Poncho

Cozy Poncho

Made this poncho from The Knit Stitch book by Sally Melville and I'm just thrilled with it. It's done in teal Marks and Kattens Quick that I found at a thrift store, on 9mm needles.

I knit two rows garter stitch around the neck before binding off instead of simply picking up and binding off immediately as the pattern suggests. It made the neckline a little more of a feature, and made the pompom tassels look like they belonged (the pompoms were my own inspiration. I couldn't resist.).

The yarn was lovely to work with. It's soft and thick and makes the poncho warm and cozy. I really like the design - so simple. The only thing I'm unsure of is the v-neck. I was thinking that such a warm garment should have a more hugging neckline -- a double-sided V is kind of drafty. Not sure if you could add a cowl or ribbed or rolled neck to the V shape though, so I've left it as-is for now.
