Wow, it's only 9:00 a.m. and we have done so much already this Christmas morning!
I found out that the felted clogs I made DH for Christmas are too small:
Argh! The clog itself would probably be okay if we just wet it and let him wear it on his feet a bit, but the slipper sole is definitely one size too small. Whoopsie. BUT, they fit my older son perfectly, so we will leave them as-is, and DH will get a brand new pair. The gift knitting continues!
Happily, that was the only low point of the morning. And it was handily offset by two high points:
1. DH gave me the Ashford Wild Carder!!!!!
I am so, so thrilled. And shocked. It was on my list as a "ha, ha, I wish" sort of item. It is a most extravagant gift!! Cannot wait to use it, but we have 20 people coming over for supper, and there is too much to do. Maybe tomorrow!
2. I actually finished my dad's socks!
Got them done last night. Can't believe it! Again, I hope they fit. If not, they will fit DH. (My Christmas gifts might end up all going to different people than they were intended for, but at least they're getting use!)
Better get on to the tidying up. We are saving our vacuuming and carpet cleaning until the very last moment before people arrive, in case the cat throws up again. The joy of pets!!
I wish you all a wonderful holiday. If any of my SOAR classmates are reading this, I am thinking of you all. I have a drum carder and 9.45 oz of Romney wool to play with now! Hope to report on some interesting spinning in the near future.
So glad you had a wonderful Christmas. Looking forward to seeing what you create with your tools and fiber. Since I rarely give away my projects (am I selfish or just practical?) I feel for your sizing issues. Something happens between the yarn, the needles and the wearer.
Soon will be 12th Night here. Wonder what the Wise Guy will bring me since your DH did so well!
