Finished all five flower petals last night. Will now try knitting the center. I'll bet it will go fast with all the decreasing. I'm using my Denise needles, and will attempt to switch to magic loop when the stitches no longer fit around the circle. Someone on the Strictly Knitting list just asked about how to pick up the stitch between the first two and place it on the lefthand needle. Same instruction I was totally confused by! I can't wait to hear the responses. I'm not sure I did it correctly either.
The knitted clown fish and portrait were a big hit at the birthday party. My sister immediately wanted a Happy Face portrait for her 2 month old daughter, but I'm not sure how I'd do it with hair and make it look cute. My little niece has one of those newborn receding hairlines -- not much on top but lots of black hair on the sides. Should I extrapolate to the dark pigtails she'll have in another couple years, or be more realistic and try to add short baby hair on top? I just don't know how cute that would be!
I do want to knit her something for her christening in June. Fell in love with the white dress in the Debbie Bliss Baby Knits for Beginners book, but the 3 1/4mm needles and $40 worth of yarn don't really do it for me! Will think about it this week.
